That counts for much in a sector plaqued by payment failures especially on POS terminals and ATMs.
PayAttitude is being promoted by leading commercial bank, Access Bank Plc. The promoter has poured hundreds of millions of naira into promoting the two months old POS payment solutions hoping to score big in this segment, where market leaders are Zenith Bank and Verve.
Other big players here are international credit card issuers—Mastercard and Visa.
If Access is able to push PayAttitude hard enough, it should get a bigger slice of the POS payment market which is worth several billions of naira per annum. Zenith Bank is king here because it has the most reliable ICT network, which a majority of trade partners –supermarkets ,boutiques ,among others -- currently rely upon to do business with millions of customers.
Access is betting big on PayAttitude’s offline feature to swing things in its favour, against Zenith and other banks. Already, Access has poured hundreds of millions of naira into a multi-media advertising campaign to support PayAttitude. This includes traditional media and digital online. PayAttitude is on Yahoo!, on users opening page, its also prominent on Facebook homepages for Nigeria. Nigeria’s electronic payment market via POS is worth several billions of naira per annum.Insight communications is the creative agency for the new brand.
