Arts minister Musawi
Design Week Lagos is partnering with Ecobank Nigeria and the Lagos State Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy to present the country’s first Design and Innovation Exhibition, 2025.
Commenting on this development, Hannatu Musawa,Nigeria’s Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, stated: “This exhibition offers a distinctive avenue for our nation’s economic advancement. By harnessing the synergy between Nigerian creativity and the manufacturing sector, we can modernize and innovate our products, promote the production of Nigerian creativity and furniture, and strengthen our economic connections.”
Titi Ogufere, Founder of Design Week Lagos and the Design, Innovation, and Inventors Hub of Nigeria, shared her vision for the event: “The Design and Innovation Exhibition 2025 is more than a celebration of design; it represents a bold step toward positioning Nigeria at the forefront of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. By fostering collaborations between designers and manufacturers, we aim to develop innovative products that not only serve local markets but also establish Nigeria as a global leader in design and manufacturing exports
" At a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s creative economy, the Design and Innovation Exhibition 2025 will showcase the finest in furniture, product, and industrial design. This year’s exhibition will focus on the theme ‘Building a Made-in-Nigeria Brand, ’celebrating the creativity, innovation, and craftsmanship of Nigerian designers and manufacturers while emphasizing industrialization and export potential," Ogufere said.
Omoboye Odu, Head of SME, Partnerships, and Collaboration at Ecobank, said that partnering for the exhibition is yet another demonstration of Ecobank’s commitment to driving innovation, collaboration, and capacity building, which is the backbone of the nation’s economy.
“Ecobank is the solution for African banking, and we are committed to giving our customers the platform to network, collaborate, and partner to promote innovation and creativity. We are proud to be part of the process to spotlight homegrown innovations and sustainable practices across various sectors.” Odu said.
The event will feature the Manufacturer and Designer’s Pavilion, spotlighting collaborations between manufacturers and designers, as well as the Designer’s Pavilion, where 50 individual designers will present new concepts across a variety of design disciplines, including furniture, toys, automotive, and industrial design, reflecting the diversity of Nigeria's creative landscape.
Interactive spaces will also be a key part of the exhibition, including: The Maker’s Room, where visitors can witness the design process in action.The Material Lab, showcasing sustainable material innovations The Umbrella Crate Stall, offering a fresh perspective on informal markets.
And the Design Den, an exciting platform for designers to pitch ideas to investors, promoting collaboration and industry growth.

Arme Sorenson
Marriott International has announced the sad passing of Arne Sorenson,its President and CEO on February 15,2021.Sorenson succumbed to cancer after two years of fighting the disease.
A Morriot statement said:”It is with profound sadness that Marriott International announces that Arne M. Sorenson, President and CEO, unexpectedly passed away on February 15, 2021.”
In May 2019, the company had announced that Sorenson had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.Then,on February 2, 2021, Marriott announced that Sorenson would temporarily reduce his schedule to facilitate more demanding treatment for pancreatic cancer.

Okusaga

Bolaji Okusaga who has been managing director of Quadrant MSL ,a leading Nigerian PR agency has quit his position.The erstwhile head of Quadrant MSL which is a part of the Troyka Holding/Publicis Group is starting up his own PR agency known as Precise .According to a public post made on Facebook by Okusaga himself earlier this month, ”after 10 years at Quadrant, it is time to move on” he says.
Okusaga has stayed longer than most of the PR agency’s heads before him .His tenure has also seen some turbulence especially several changes in the agency’s global affiliations, mostly due to turbulent too at its parent ,Troyka/Insight Comms parent.

Steve Baba=Eko, managing director/CEO of advertising agency,X3M ideas has been elected President of the Advertising Association of Nigeria, AAAN , the group of advertising agencies and professionals in Nigeria.
Baba-Eko election was announced at the virtual 47th Annual General Meeting of AAAN, held on Thursday ,July 2 ,2020.It was not clear how Baba-Eko emerged president of AAAN, although it appears
That he was unopposed for the position. Baba-Eko who has served the association as Publicity Secretary and until his election as Vice President had made public his intention to be the association’s president few days before the AGM in a tweet June 24.
The new AAAN president had earlier promised to give the association more visibility and raise the recognition of the LAIF advertising awards and festival internationally.
Baba-Eko graduated with a BA degree in Drama form the Ahmadu Bello University in 1994.He subsequently started a career in advertising at MC&A (defunct) where he worked as a copywriter.
After over a decade in the industry, he became Creative director of then new agency !$! Worldwide(part of the then Prima Garnet Ogilvy group) in September,2005. He left 7 years later, 2012 to found X3M Ideas, where he is CEO and Chief Creative Officer. He has worked on several brands including Zain airtel and Etisalat brands.

Nestle Milo’s ready-to-drink product that shook the school children’s lunch market about
three years ago has returned to the market. Its return howbeit quietly was noticed about a
fortnight ago in major cities round the country, especially in Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja and
Port Harcourt.
The Milo RTD had shaken the market three years ago when it was first introduced
Into the market .It was the first attempt by Nestle Milo to put the chocolate beverage
into the ready to-drink market segment dominated by fruit juices, fizzy drinks and yoghurt
and some other frozen beverages.
